CAN YOU HELP?

There are many ways to help our clients at the Center. Maybe you would like to donate funds, food, volunteer, or more! There are many ways to help and they are all invaluable in supporting our mission to help those in need in the South Lake community.

DONATE FUNDS

Your monetary donations are used to buy food and to fund the operating expenses of the Center. We can purchase food much cheaper than you can at the grocery — up to 10 times cheaper. Your contribution goes a long way.

BECOME A PARTNER

Many churches and local businesses and organizations have partnered with FAITH Neighborhood Center over the years by giving their support in many ways. It may be by sharing surplus foods with us, by sponsoring fundraising events, or by other means of support.

Join Our Mission

Many churches and local businesses and organizations have partnered with FAITH Neighborhood Center over the years by giving their support in many ways.

It may be by sharing surplus foods with us, by sponsoring fundraising events, or by other means of support.

If your company or organization can help us in any way, give our Executive Director a call at 352-429-1200. She can explain what it takes to become a partner and suggest ways that you may be able to help.

Only with the help of our many partners and other donors can we be successful in providing assistance to those in need in our community.

Our Partners

Our support comes from churches, church organizations, service clubs, businesses, foundations, and private individuals.

  • The Postal Drive provides a source of food each year. In 2017, postal carriers collected over 26,000 pounds of food and supplies.
  • Each year the Boy Scout Food Drive collects several tons of non-perishable food to support the Center.
  • Several schools hold food drives during the year.
  • We collaborate with other Lake County pantries and support agencies to fill the needs and share ideas, so we can better support those in need.
  • We receive grants and funding from various organizations: Community Foundation of South Lake County, the United Way of Lake and Sumter,
  • Lake County Agencies, private foundations, and funders.
  • We receive free and reduced-price food through the Second Harvest Food Bank.

Other Ways To Help

DONATE FOOD

Although we obtain food from Second Harvest, other local businesses, the annual Boy Scout Drive, and the Postal Drive, a significant and important source come from individual donors.

Several local churches donate food collected from their members. And individual donors bring food to the Center. We accept most food; however, it must be before the expiration date listed on the label.

Please bring your donations to the right side door of the Center during normal operating hours.

Volunteering

We love our Volunteers! The FAITH Neighborhood Center is staffed by an executive director, four part time employees, and over 100 volunteers. We could not exist without our faithful volunteers who put in countless hours without compensation — they work only because they enjoy helping people!

There are many ways you can provide help as a volunteer.

The Front desk volunteers check in existing clients and register new clients. They also provide help with signing up for Food Stamps and Medicare. Computer skills are required to work in this area.

Dine Out & Special Events

Dine Out

One easy way to help the Center is to take advantage of our “Dine Out” program. Occasionally, local food merchants give a percentage of your bill to the Center. Already, restaurants like Chili’s, Calabria, Bob Evans, Flippers, Outback, Culvers, and Texas Roadhouse have participated in the program. Check below for any current promotions.

Special Events

A great way to raise money for the center is to host a special event. For example, the Boy Scouts sponsor an annual Food Drive and the Center has held an annual Golf Tournament, with proceeds going to the Center. The possibilities are unlimited. Contact the Volunteer of Special Projects if you would like to sponsor such an event.
